Purchasing Agent

Job Description:
Aspen Systems Inc., a premier manufacturer of Beowulf clusters, has an immediate opening for a purchasing agent. Candidates must possess high energy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an in-depth knowledge of the high performance computing industry. An ideal candidate should portray the utmost responsibility and assertiveness in dealing with needs that are imperative to the success of Aspen Systems.

Job Responsibility:
The purchaser must work with an established supply chain to meet the material demands of Aspen Systems' manufacturing requirements. The responsibilities of this job include but are not limited to: purchasing and delegating materials and resources to the production staff; coordinating with the production manager and sales team in order to ensure a smooth workflow; overseeing the Return Material Authorization process; and maintaining and updating products and pricing in a proprietary database.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
The candidate must be able to integrate into a team as well as work independently and efficiently. Required skills include an advanced understanding of computer hardware and software, professional mathematical and accounting skills, attention to detail, and adaptability to a fast paced environment.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience. CPM, JIT education helpful.

Additional Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in high-tech purchasing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Linux experience and knowledge of the Linux OS will also be helpful, but is not required
  • Experience in manufacturing of high performance computers
  • Knowledge of computers peripherals and parts
  • Experience with client server manufacturing software with job scheduling
  • Bar code and inventory management and control experience
