Aspen Systems on Prestigious Top 500 List
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo., June 21, 2004 - Aspen Systems, Inc., a leader in the custom design, manufacture and service of a wide array of Linux®-based high performance computing (HPC) solutions, has maintained its standing on the International Top 500® Supercomputer Sites List.

The TOP500 project was started in 1993 to provide a reliable basis for tracking and detecting trends in high-performance computing. Twice a year, a list of the sites operating the 500 most powerful computer systems is assembled and released. For a complete list of the Top500, as well as more detailed information about current trends in the supercomputing industry, please visit http://www.top500.org/.

Aspen Systems debuted on the Top500 list in 2002 in a partnership with High Performance Technologies, Inc. to deliver the 8th largest supercomputer in the world to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Forecast Systems Laboratory (NOAA). This system, nick named Jet, currently ranks number 41 on the Top500. In the last 6 months, the entry point for the top 100 has moved from 1.142 Tflop/s to 1.922 Tflop/s. Aspen Systems' cluster has 768 nodes (768 dual 2.2 GH Intel XeonTM Processors) and operates at 3.3 Tflop/s. To read more about Jet, visit the NOAA website at http://hpcs.fsl.noaa.gov/.

This cluster also holds the distinction of being the 6th largest Myrinet® cluster in the world. Over 37% of the Top500 list use Myrinet technology. For more information about Myrinet and the Top500 list, please visit http://www.myrinet.com/news/040620/.
