Cooling Solutions

Aspen utilizes APC™ and Liebert™ solutions  to solve customer facility upgrade needs. In cases where your overall cooling capacity is sufficient, air flow re-direction methodologies may be used to provide greater cooling to hot spots within your facility. Single or multi-rack supplemental cooling can also be installed to cool the specific cluster or clusters you are installing, or even totally contained self-cooling racks can be deployed in some cases. Sometimes, re-racking of current systems in a more disciplined fashion, and the re-deployment of systems in a true cold aisle / hot aisle configuration might be necessary. To accomodate even higher densities, Aspen can design and deploy  APC InfrStruXure™ Hot Aisle Containment Systems or Liebert™ XD solutions.

Power Solutions

Power is another limiting factor in most older facilities. More dense HPC solutions can use 4, or even 6 or more 208V 30 to 50 amp circuits per rack, and many existing facilities do not have that power available. If you are deploying a smaller HPC cluster in your facility, it is sometimes possible to "steal" the required power from other locations in your computer room, possibly by rewiring from your power panel to re-direct more circuits of the proper type to the location of your new cluster.  If you are deploying a system that exceeds the power capabilities of your current facility, the power may not be available at all, so entirely new power runs from your public service access point may be required. Your power conditioning system, or generator if you have one for your facility, may also require modification or replacement. Up-rated Power Distribution units or panels may also be required to service your new systems.

Getting the proper amount of power to your facility is only the first step. The ability to correctly design your power system, route the feeds, and specify the correct components and installation will directly affect your long term compute facility reliability. Aspen has this experience.

Inside the facility, high end compute facilities are designed with power "legs", which are separated power sources which feed through totally discrete paths to your equipment. It does no good to have a critical computer system have dual redundant power supplies if both power supplies are fed from the same breaker, and your compute facility must be carefully designed to meet your budget while supplying the most reliability possible.
