Blade ServersModular, plug-in blade servers run e-commerce applications, firewalls, clusters, e-mail and many other enterprise applications. Blade servers can reduce costs by improving systems management, simplifying provisioning and increasing reliability. Blade Servers deliver the equivalent performance and capabilities of a rack server, with easier installation, service and management.
Supermicro SuperBlade™
SuperBlade™ offers many unique advantages that differentiate it from competitors' blade products and traditional rack-mount solutions. Customer benefits include maximum affordability, reduced management costs, lower power consumption, optimal ROI, and high scalability - and in most applications, blade servers even reduce acquisition costs. While current tier-one blade suppliers only offer general-purpose blade servers, the SuperBlade technology is fully optimized for a wide array of mission-critical and compute-intensive applications. With in-house design engineering agility to accommodate customer needs rapidly, SuperBlade revolutionizes modular computing architecture by offering several advanced application-optimized models such as Enterprise Blade Server, Data Center Optimized Blade, Workstation Blade and Personal Blade.

Intel® Blade Servers
The Intel server compute blade packs an enormous amount of performance, flexibility, and serviceability features into an extremely thin form-factor, helping you expand performance while extending limited computing resources. The compute blade includes a wealth of features that deliver scalable performance, deployment flexibility, and easy serviceability. The Intel blade server platform is also highly reliable thanks to built-in redundancy for every component. No tools or expertise are required to add, remove or replace a new blade in the system, and there are no cables to disconnect. The compute blade connects to the server chassis and other components through a midplane. This midplane replaces an average of nine cables typically required in rack and pedestal server configurations, eliminating excessive cabling. Individual blades are easily managed locally or anywhere on your network with the Intel Server Management Module. The Server Management Module, integrated into the Intel Blade Server Chassis, streamlines and simplifies the management of multiple server blades in a single chassis.
With 4-way Intel Xeon MP blades, you can build even more powerful computers, allowing you to consolidate servers further and touch even fewer chassis. Up to 28 Intel Xeon MP processors can fit into a single 7U chassis (7 quad blades per chassis). All this simplification and consolidation reduces costs too, through easier serviceability, easier manageability, and reduced cabling. You'll have even fewer installations and redeployments, fewer servers to monitor, fewer failure points, and an even greater ability to consolidate applications. 2- and 4-way blades may also be combined in a single chassis. Please ask your Aspen Systems sales representative about this option if you are interested in this type of configuration. For further details about Intel blade server components, please see our more detailed Intel blade server page.
NexBlade Servers
The NexBlade 4U server chassis can hold 8 - 10 high performance server blades. With the 8-blade chassis, each server blade can run dual Xeon EM64T (Nocona) or dual AMD Opteron processors with built-in state-of-the-art thermal management, 8GB of on-board memory, and dual onboard storage. The 10-blade chassis supports low-voltage Xeon or future processors with 4GB of on-board memory in each blade. The low-voltage high performance blade system consumes only 50% of the energy and takes up only 40% of the rack space of a comparable regular rack mount system. Standard PCI-X, or PCI-Express expansion slots are available in both versions.
The chassis provides KVM console or serial console access to operate individual server blades while the hot-swappable modular design, means it's easy to maintain the system's hardware. This blade system supports both copper and fibre network interfaces. Versatile network connectivity is provided via feed-through ports for full bandwidth, or switched ports for cable consolidation. Built-in remote server control and monitoring, and an integrated smart KVM switch ease server operation, administration and maintenance. Please feel free to contact our sales department or fill out a system price quote request if you are interested in a Blade Server system from Aspen Systems. |
