SuperBlade Enclosure & Management Module

SuperBlade's industry standard 19" wide chassis reduce server footprint in the data center by allowing for up to ten blade servers to be installed in 7U of rack space, as compared to the 10U of space that would be required for ten 1U servers. This allows for SuperBlade to provide about 40% improved density with up to 60 total servers in a 42U rack. Power, cooling and networking devices are aggregated in the rear of the chassis simplifying the cabling process. SuperBlade's cable aggregation provides up to a 70% reduction in the number of network, power, and KVM cabling required for cabling ten 1U servers.

The SuperBlade chassis management module (CMM) provides remote management of individual server blades, power supplies, cooling fans, and networking switches. System administrators can enjoy the out-of-band management provided by the CMM regardless of Operating system or Power on status of each server blade, as the controller is a separate processor. This allows for management and monitoring of temperature sensors, voltages, fan speeds, power status, and provide the control to reboot and/or reset the individual server blades. Each server blade BIOS configuration and operating system can be accessed via SOL (Serial over LAN) or embedded KVM over LAN.
