Storage Solutions

Aspen Systems has the experience and expertise to provide a storage solution with the best platform, technology, and software for you. We can help you with needs as small as a single storage server, as broad as a scale-out file system or object store, as extensive as a parallel file system for a high-performance computing cluster, or as critical as a long-term archive.

Storage Servers

Aspen Systems can build and customize a storage server to meet your needs, with capacities ranging as small as a few terabytes to multiple petabytes.

You can access your data locally, with standard file copy utilities like scp, sftp, or rsync, or via a standard remote file system protocol like NFS or SMB.

Storage server deployments may be as simple as a single system with internal disk and NVMe. Larger deployments may include multiple redundant servers and multiple external disk enclosures, accelerated with high-performance NVMe caches. Either protects your data in the event of component failure, with a level of redundancy tuned to your needs and budget.

Scale-out file system and object storage

When redundancy and availability requirements exceed the capabilities of a centralized storage server, it’s time to consider moving to a scale-out file system or object store.

These systems disaggregate your data across multiple storage servers, providing capacity and performance as additional servers are added.

Whether you need a traditional file system or a cloud-compatible object store, both use cases are served by an Aspen Systems Ceph cluster. Our clusters scale capacity, performance, and resiliency together, so you know that however far you grow, you’ll always be able to grow your data with you.

If a different platform is a better fit for your needs, Aspen Systems can also get you connected to the right people at one of our many storage partners so that you can be confident you’re getting the best solution for you. All the while, we’ll be there to deploy and support your entire, integrated server, compute, and storage environment with Aspen’s world-class customer service.

Parallel file systems

When your computational needs exceed your storage performance, it’s time to consider deploying a parallel file system.

With features like discrete metadata storage, multiple parallel read and write servers, native file system clients, and accelerated MPI-IO, a parallel file system provides the performance you need for HPC, big data, and AI/ML workloads.

An Aspen Systems BeeGFS cluster is a great fit for many HPC workloads. BeeGFS supports RDMA, MPI-IO, parallel access to multiple storage devices via multiple storage servers, and discrete NVMe-accelerated metadata storage.

If a different parallel file system is a better fit for your needs, Aspen Systems can also get you connected to the right people at one of our many storage partners so that you can be confident you’re getting the best solution for you, whether you need Lustre, Spectrum Scale / GPFS, Panasas, or Weka, we can coordinate with the right provider for the best configuration for your complete HPC environment. All the while, we’ll be there to deploy and support your entire, integrated HPC compute and storage environment with Aspen’s world-class customer service.

Archive

When data retention, resiliency, and management are your chief concerns, it’s time to start thinking about a discrete data archive.

Your data archive may be based on a special-case deployment of a scale-out NAS or object store, or it may benefit from more specialized equipment like a tape library with an automated tape movement robot. Whatever the case, Aspen Systems can get you connected to the right people at one of our many storage partners so that you can be confident you’re getting the best solution for you. All the while, we’ll come along side as your single point of contact to support your entire data storage environment with Aspen’s world-class customer service.

Storage Interconnects

Aspen Systems has many interconnects for your storage, depending on your requirements.

Some of our customers need a NAS or SAN, while others need a Clustered or Parallel Filesystem. Because of the different needs, we offer all types of interconnects. This includes Ethernet (RoCE), InfiniBand (RDMA), OPA, Fibre Channel, MiniSAS/SAS, and more. If your infrastructure already has an interconnect in place, great. If not, an Aspen Systems Engineer can make recommendations based on your applications and requirements.
