Aspen Systems’ hardware warranties are a great way to ensure that hardware failures don’t cause extended downtime or headaches. As an Aspen customer, you receive software support free of charge from Aspen for the life of your cluster under our Standard Service plan. If you select our Flex Service or Total Service plans, you’ll receive all software upgrades to your cluster environment as requested.

HARDWARE WARRANTIES FROM ASPEN SYSTEMS

Aspen Systems hardware warranties are available with all our systems. In addition to our standard warranty, we offer much more flexibility than many other vendors. Aspen Systems offers a comprehensive system hardware warranty, the standard warranty covering all components delivered in your order. Additionally, we offer separate warranties on specific components in your system. Separate component warranties are very popular with customers who operate larger systems with phased upgrade requirements. Aspen Systems can warranty your entire system for a given duration or specific components of your delivered systems separately. These options allow you to cover all or only part of your environment for different durations based on your system’s requirements.

Interconnect Warranty


The “Interconnect” warranty type covers the equipment delivered from cables to network switches.

System Warranty


The “System Warranty” type is a standard hardware warranty that covers every component in your delivered system. Think of it as a bumper-to-bumper warranty for your system.

Storage Warranty


The "Storage Warranty" type covers all components in your delivered storage system, including cables, controllers, drives, and software upgrades.

  • Up to five years, sold in one month or one year increments.
  • Onsite spare parts kit required for next business day service.
  • Response to trouble ticket during business hours.
  • Our onsite technician will be there the next business day after diagnosis of issue.

4 Hour response, 24x7 Onsite warranty


  • Up to five years, sold in one year increments.
  • Onsite spare parts kit required for service.
  • Response to trouble ticket within 4 hours of trouble ticket.
  • If the ticket is submitted before 10am, same day service after diagnosis from our onsite technician.
  • If the ticket is submitted after 10am, next day service after diagnosis.
  • 4 Hour response time does not mean 4 Hour replacement.

Warranty Periods

Once you have chosen the warranty types you desire, you can select the amount of time you wish each warranty type to be in effect. Aspen Systems warranties systems for a maximum period of five (5) years from the delivery date. We offer hardware warranties for the following periods.

HARDWARE WARRANTY DEFINITION

Our hardware warranties consist of parts and labor warranty and support for the period contracted after your system is delivered. Aspen provides replacement parts during your warranty and advanced part replacement for companies with good credit standing. Advance replacement parts must be returned to Aspen within fifteen days of the receipt of the new part, or you will be billed for the part. A return label will be included with your advanced part replacement.

You must obtain an RMA number from Aspen Systems for each warranty claim. Items not included in the warranty coverage incur Aspen Systems’ standard repair rates, including return freight charges. Aspen Systems is not responsible for damages incurred in shipping.

Aspen pays for parts to be shipped both ways for the life of your warranty. All shipping under our standard hardware warranty is done as “standard ground” shipping for the carrier applicable to your area. Higher priority shipping is available but is not included under your warranty. If deemed necessary by Aspen engineering, entire nodes or peripheral units may be returned to Aspen for repair at our expense.

WARRANTY EXTENSIONS FROM ASPEN SYSTEMS

A hardware warranty extension from Aspen is a great way to keep your cluster running smoothly and longer. As an Aspen customer, you receive software support from Aspen for the life of your cluster under our Standard Service plan. Suppose you selected our Flex Service or Total Service plans. In that case, you’re even receiving software upgrades to your cluster environment as you request them, but what about hardware failures? 

There are three simple rules to remember when requesting a hardware warranty extension for your cluster: 

  1. Aspen offers warranty extensions in one-year increments starting from the last date of your previous warranty coverage. For example, if you purchased a cluster with a warranty that expired in January 2022, your extended warranty would begin from January 2022 regardless of when you purchase the extension.
  2. Your system’s total warranty period cannot exceed five years from the date of delivery for your system. Let’s say you received your system on September 17th, 2018, and you included a Gold (3-year) hardware warranty. Your coverage will expire on September 17th, 2021. You may extend your hardware warranty coverage for up to 2 additional years, to September 17th, 2023. You may not purchase a 3-year extension, as it would extend your hardware warranty to six years from your systems delivery date.
  3. If your current hardware warranty is still in place, your warranty coverage can quickly be extended by your sales engineer. If the warranty has already expired, Aspen must perform engineering due diligence and certification on your cluster to extend your warranty.

As your cluster hardware ages, additional hardware failures become more likely. Aspen stocks replacement parts for your systems based on the components’ projected and measured failure rate, so your hardware warranty extension cost will rise in the later years of your warranty period. Obtaining the extended warranty, you expect to need when you initially purchase your cluster will always be cheaper than extending your warranty later because stock replacement parts may be end-of-life or hard to obtain.
